In last week class discussion, I told Eric about our group members lack of skills in handling video camera especially the JVC, fortunately Eric introduce Josh to us today, he is quite experienced in operating the camera. Josh explained all the functions in JVC, includes Zoom, Focus, Exposure, Iris and many more. He guide us in handling the camera in the proper way as well, for example shooting a still shot using a tripod, how to pan and how to shoot a nice video.
I get this opportunity to ask him some question that I used to face using this camera, which are lightings for this jvc, it is not a good camera to shoot in lowlight condition, so we need to find a place which have sufficient amount of light to prevent the footage turns up grainy and dull. Another question is about the white balance, how do we compare the white colour in the camera viewer with the real white colour that we see. He asked me to do some research online to find more detail about adjusting white balance if I want to make it manually than using the auto white balance.
I found out a good tutorial online which show what JVC HM100E manage to do and whats not.
Another thing to be noted, as we are going to interview people in the event at night, we will have to guide the interviewee to a brighter place to shoot, it is the best way to avoid bad footage. Good luck for the upcoming shooting!
